Capital Hill Mansion
Return to the time of Denver's great wealth when you stay in The Capitol Hill Mansion. Built for the Keating Family in 1891, it is one of the last splendid homes erected before the Silver Crash of 1893 when the Government stopped buying silver to support the currency. Bordering downtown Denver on the East Side, it is located in one of the most architecturally outstanding areas of the City surrounded by historic homes of pioneers, governors, financiers, and mine owners. It is on the National and State Registers of Historic Homes. The spectacular structure was restored and remodeled to become one of Denver's premier Bed and breakfast Inns when it opened in January 1994. The elegant exterior of ruby sandstone is in a Richardsonian Romanesque style with high turrets, balconies, soaring chimneys, grand curving porch. The entry interior of crafted patterned plaster and golden oak paneling opens to a sweeping staircase with an eight foot high beveled stained glass window. Antique but sturdy furnishings, art and greenery are throughout the high ceiling parlor and dining room and the quaint but comfortable guest rooms.
