Lumber Baron Inn
The Lumber Baron Inn and Gardens is a beautifully restored 1890 Victorian mansion nestled in Northwest Denver's Highlands neighborhood. Walter Keller began a painstakingly thorough renovation of the historic building in 1991. Today, Walter and his son John are the Innkeepers. Together they make the Lumber Baron a wonderful place to experience.
In 1890, John Mouat, Scottish immigrant, amassed a fortune in lumber. Working with the top architects of the day, Mouat helped build Denver from a mining camp along Cherry Creek to the crown rowing town of Highlands - geographically and morally above the wild town of Denver. Built as a home to his five children and wife, Amelia, Mouat showcased his finest wares in this 8,500 square s: cherry, oak, poplar, sycamore, maple, and walnut - each with distinct carvings and fine details. The dining room woodwork has individually carved rosettes representing varied species of trees. Quick navigate Denver Inns / B&Bs
