Dory Hill Campground ( Golden )
Dory Hill Campground is a small mountain campground and is at the elevation of 9,230 feet. We are approximately 30 miles west of the Denver Metro area. Our area is rich in history, scenery and outdoor recreation. This is a quiet area with little traffic and no train tracks. Most days are sunny with a bright blue sky. Evenings are cool with clear starlit skies. We suggest you bring a jacket and long pants for comfort around the campfire.
Dory Hill Campground's natural setting is located within Aspen, Spruce and Pine trees. We have wildflowers and grass throughout the campground. Wildlife in the campground is limited to chipmunks and rabbits.
There are coyotes, bears, mountain lions, elk and deer nearby.
Cabins Available. Dory Hill Campground is located in the heart of Gilpin County. The county baseball and soccer fields are adjacent the campground. The County fair grounds, horse arena and community center are all located across the highway. The Casino towns, Black Hawk and Central City are just 5 miles away. In addition to gambling, they offer museums tours and events throughout the summer.
Just 1/4 mile off the Peak to Peak Scenic Highway. Winter brings snow and cooler temp. but it's still a great place to stay. Cabins have heaters, sites have electric hook-up to keep you warm. Rest rooms are heated with plenty of hot water. Skiers! We are only 12 miles from Eldora Ski Area. A great family ski experience.
